Nick Beaudoin who apprenticed sail making with Spike Boston and family in Point Edward, Ontario moved to Sydney Australia's Northern Beaches to work at the North Sail Loft in Mona Vale.
This year's Rolex Sydney to Hobart Boxing Day start will mark his fifth attempt for line honours, with his previous best finish third in 2007 onboard the first generation Volvo 70 Ichi Ban owned by CYCA past commodore Matt Allen.
This year, Beaudoin will be head sail trimming for Anthony Bell's Super Maxi Investec Loyal, the 100' canting keel Elliot design. Beaudoin will be joined by 15 other professional sailors including well known Australian sailor Michael Coxon and American navigator Stan Honey.
In addition to the professional sailors, will be a group of Australia's professional athletes, from sports as varied as surfing, boxing and rugby.
Early weather predictions call for a bumpy ride for the Southern Hemisphere's most challenging Blue Water Classic.
