Audi Hamilton Island Race Week Day One - A great day ahead

by Rob Kothe & the Sail-World Team on 18 Aug 2013
Fitzallen Passage - Audi Hamilton Island Race Week Day 1 Sail-World.com http://www.sail-world.com
Clear and sunny this morning, with 6-8 knot breezes expected for the start of the Molle Islands Race, with the start in Dent Passage as always. We will post the full weather report shortly.

Arrived at Hamilton Island yesterday on the ferry after Airlie Beach Race Week. There have been years when there were almost fears that the trade winds would have been exhausted after blowing so hard at Airlie, they would have nothing left for Hammo. This year is not one of them.

Soon after we arrived, we did a long interview with Paul Larsen, the fastest sailor in the world.

The 38 year old Victorian bushie who first sailed Hobie 16´s, worked on Hamilton Island at Sunsail before heading to Japan, the States, Europe and the UK, on an epic adventure, on November 24th 2012 helmed Vestas Sailrocket 2 to an astonishing 65.37 knots over 500 metres. We will publish the interview in segments over coming days.
