Day 2 of Race Week started on a more hopeful note, with all divisions getting away from their respective start lines on schedule, albeit in very light airs.

The IRC Racing fleet and MC38s sailed a windward/leeward on the eastern course, while all the remaining divisions were swept swiftly north from their start line in Dent Passage by a strong outgoing current.

Although the breeze held in across the Whitsunday Passage for the bulk of the fleet, the IRC Racing and the MC 38s soon found the wind deserting them, leaving them drifting across the line of a shortened course, before the race committee sent them west for a new course in more breeze in the Whitsunday Passage.

In beautiful late afternoon sun and an 8-10 knot breeze, the IRC fleet made a wonderful sight.

Crosbie Lorimer was out watching both fleets and captured these images.
