Atlantic Challenge Team Canada ready for contest in Bantry, Ireland

The Atlantic Challenge Canada team has been training now for two weeks in preparation for the 2012 International Contest of Seamanship in Bantry, Ireland July 21-28th.

The crew, comprising of youth from across Canada, have been living together in Midland since June 24th.

Events include a combination of sailing and rowing, traditional seamanship, navigation and rope work, testing each country’s ability. The 38’ wooden boats are replica sailing and rowing gigs from the late 18th Century and have a crew of thirteen on board working together for each event.
