The very popular America's Cup Challenger, Luna Rossa, set up and launched their new AC45 in Auckland, this morning, marking a major milestone in their America's Cup campaign.

Currently the team has 20 people in Auckland, working out of the old Team New Zealand base, and will expand this team to 60 people when the team begins sailing their AC72, currently under construction in Italy.

The team says they are relatively unaffected by the recent America's Cup Jury decision limiting the way competitive teams can work together. Luna Rossa said they would be able to do 80% of what they planned on doing initially.

Practice racing against the Emirates Team NZ AC45 will get underway in the last week of January, and will probably take the form of formal racing between the two teams..
