505 Worlds fleet gather in Palermo, Sicily

One of the largest fleets of 505s ever is assembling in Mondello, Palermo, Sicily for the 2008, 505 World Championships at the Club Canottieri Ruggero di Lauria.

There are now 124 boats representing 12 countries, including 34 from Germany, the largest entry, 16 from the USA, 18 from Australia, 15 from the UK and four from Ireland, demonstrating the increasing strength of the class across the globe.

In addition to the defending World Champions from Denmark, Jan Saugmann and Morten Ramsbeck, championship winners from five previous occasions will be taking part, along with many other champions.

The Europeans and Pre-Worlds championships starts on Monday 6 October and the Worlds commence on Saturday 11 October.
