Boys and their toys!

It is often said that 'boys have their toys' and this is true to any industry. When size matters one can immediately think of sailboats. No limit, the creativity of the boat designers and owners is amazing.

I have just spent a couple of days in Palma following the Super Yacht Cup. Many of us are familiar with super maxi Wild Oats XI, the 98ft (30 metre) boat that won line honours in the Sydney-Hobart 2005/06. Well just to give you an idea she was the smallest boat in the fleet......Yes, when put her side by side with the 88 metre 'Maltese Falcon', Wild Oats XI could well have been taken for her tender.

So size does matter and when 52 of the biggest yachts gather for a race, you can only expect to see something unique and over the top – with class. From the famous Velsheda to the ultra modern Wally Yachts and the classic Lulworth or Eleonora to the massive Maltese Falcon....everything for any taste.

All the images of these impressive and fantastic giants can be seen on www.afrancolini.com

Key word: Super Yacht Cup

Enjoy and see you on Sydney Harbour for the Audi winter series

Cheers
Andrea
