World Cruising Club, organisers of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) Rally, has appointed sailing clothier Gill as Technical Clothing Partner for the ARC and other World Cruising Club events.
Bringing these two quality companies together is just one more step in the preparations for this year’s ARC, which will depart from the Canary Islands on 27th November. In March the organisers held a seminar to prepare intending participants. More than 200 hundred yachts and catamarans are expected to join the cruise, which last year attracted the maximum 225 participants.
On the appointment of Gill, a spokesman for the company said last week, ‘With 30 years experience in the design and manufacture of clothing for the offshore sailor, Gill were a natural choice.’

World Cruising Club themselves have 20 years as organisers of the largest trans-ocean event in the world, which sets them apart as leaders in their field.

Founder and executive chairman, Nick Gill, says of the partnership 'Gill is delighted to join World Cruising Club as Technical Clothing Partner and we are looking forward to being involved with the ARC, amongst other events. As well as our 30 years of experience in designing and manufacturing technical performance sailing clothing, we have a pedigree from our involvement in the last five Whitbread and Volvo Ocean Races. Our gear is fully tested for the rigours of an Atlantic crossing.

'Particularly suitable for the warmer conditions is our new Technical Apparel range specifically designed for warm weather sailing. All garments are fast drying, fast wicking and have a UV protection of UPF50+. Having spoken to many ARC participants, the sun strength and searing temperatures are apparently as much a challenge as the heavy weather.'

Andrew Bishop, Managing Director of World Cruising Club, comments 'We are delighted to welcome Gill as Corporate Members of World Cruising Club as our Technical Clothing Partner. Participants in our events will benefit from this association, through sharing of their knowledge and experience, and the supply of sailing clothing.'

Gill has already teamed up with fellow Corporate Member and retailer Mailspeed Marine to offer an exclusive deal for ARC participants. Further details are available from World Cruising Club.
