Pen's Marcus and Andrew Eagan notched a solid day of racing to take the lead on the first day of the first ever VX ONE North American Championship. Hosted by Pensacola Yacht Club in Florida, the Louisiana-based pair tallied a line of 2,1,1,3 for just seven points in the four races thus far.
Behind the Eagans are David Bolyard with 10 points, and Sean Fidler and David Guggenheim tied for the next spots with 14 points each. Sixteen teams are competing in this inaugural VX ONE North American Championship.
In the first contest, Bolyard grabbed the win, trailed by Eagan and Skip Dieball. Eagan moved up to the top spot in race 2, with Fidler in second and Guggenheim in third. The same top three repeated for race 3, and in the day’s final bout, Bolyard recorded another victory. Guggenheim and then Eagan came in next.
Conditions in Pensacola were beautiful, with winds 6-8 knots. Racing continues through Sunday. Photos are available on the VX One Design Racing Facebook page. Visit www.vxonenac.com to follow live racing and results.
