Wind and Sailing at Carnac

Carnac is widely regarded as one of the finest dinghy sailing venues in Europe. The usual wind conditions in June are thermal winds, West/South-West in the afternoon, with a nice opportunity to sail in the afternoon (14:00 to 17.00) with 10/15knots. Alternatively, early birds can enjoy Easterly Winds up to 11.00.

Find out more about the Carnac wind statistics, Musto Skiff sailing area, and tide times on the Yacht club de Carnac website here.

Accommodation at Carnac

There are plenty of accommodation options at Carnac to suit any budget, including hotels, apartments, and camping. You can find a range of places to stay during the event week through the usual accommodation booking websites.

The sailing club host venue, Yacht Club de Carnac, has also arranged for discounted accommodation for 2026 Worlds competitors during the event week. This includes up to 25% off hotel bookings.

You can see the latest accommodation partner list on the Yacht club de Carnac website here.

Make it a Holiday: Top Things to Do in Carnac

Many sailors like to bring family or friends to their event week, and some of you may want to extend your stay for some holiday time. Carnac is a stunning coastal location and there is lots to do in and around the region.

Carnac combines sailing, history, nature, and easy logistics, all within walking or cycling distance. Some highlights suggested by Carnac Tourism and Brittany Tourism include:

  • The Carnac Alignments: Over 3,000 prehistoric standing stones, unique in the world
  • Five sandy beaches: Ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, or post racing down-time
  • Coastal cycling and running routes: Perfect for warm down sessions
  • Local Breton food: Crêpes, seafood, and relaxed harbour side dining
