The U.S. SailGP Team today released a new launch film ahead of the New Zealand Sail Grand Prix, offering a first look at the vision shaping the next chapter of the American high performance racing team.
The film features members of the team's ownership group — Issa Rae, DeAndre Hopkins, DJ Khaled, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Marc Lasry, Gary Vaynerchuk and Carolyn Tisch-Blodgett — alongside Tommy Hilfiger, Founder & Principal Designer of the global brand and team's Official Lifestyle Apparel Partner. Together, they represent an A-List collective spanning sport, entertainment, finance and entrepreneurship, aligned around building a modern sports property with global ambition.
The film introduces the voices that back the team and sets the tone for a broader storytelling arc that will unfold throughout the season. Tommy Hilfiger's inclusion reflects a longstanding relationship with sailing and a continued commitment to performance-led sport with international reach.
"We were deliberate about assembling the most diverse ownership group in the history of the sport of sailing because it is a competitive advantage," said Mike Buckley, Team Principal and CEO of the U.S. SailGP Team. "This is a group that has won at every level, built enduring brands, and defined culture at scale. We are proud to build alongside them, and this film offers a window into the thinking and conviction behind this collective."
Set against the backdrop of SailGP's cutting-edge F50 catamarans — capable of reaching speeds exceeding 60 mph — the film captures the intensity and expectation surrounding the team as the 2026 season unfolds. As SailGP expands its global footprint and broadcast presence, the U.S.SailGP Team continues to position itself as a competitive and commercially relevant American contender on a worldwide stage.
The film is now live across the U.S. SailGP Team's digital platforms, with additional storytelling and content to follow throughout the 2026 season.
