The NorthStar SailGP Team is proud to announce the addition of Ali ten Hove to its roster as Reserve Strategist for the 2026 season of the Rolex SailGP Championship. Ali will also serve as a reserve grinder on occasion and will work behind the scenes with the team on data analytics.
A Tokyo 2020 Olympian widely respected for her relentless competitive drive, ten Hove brings significant tactical experience to NorthStar's high performance program. Her expertise across strategy and data-driven decision-making will further strengthen the team's analytics in the fast-paced, high-pressure environment of SailGP.
Earlier this season, the NorthStar Mentor Program highlighted the keen interest among young women in Canada in working in professional sport. Following on from this, the NorthStar SailGP Team undertook a nationwide search for female athletes, as part of the team's commitment to growing opportunities for women. Ali was selected from a pool of over 50 top tier applicants for this new position and is the third female athlete on the team, joining Annie Haeger (Strategist) and Georgia Lewin Lafrance who is also the fleet reserve athlete this weekend in Abu Dhabi.
"Ali is an exceptional talent with a sharp strategic mind and a proven record performing at the highest levels of our sport," said Joe Glanfield, Lead Coach of the NorthStar SailGP Team. "Her ability to read complex race situations, combined with her strong technical background, will make her an asset to the team both on the water and in the coach booth."
In her role as Reserve Strategist, ten Hove will be ready to step onto the F50 if and when required. As a reserve grinder, she will support the power unit on select race days that demand additional roster flexibility. Working closely with the coaching staff, ten Hove will also help analyze training and race-day data to support race strategy and season-long performance gains for the team.
"I'm thrilled to be joining the NorthStar SailGP Team," said ten Hove. "SailGP represents the pinnacle of high-performance sailing and I'm excited to join the Canadian team next season."
