Understanding women's boat ownership and participation in Ireland

Women on the Water © Irish Sailing

Irish Sailing and the Irish Cruiser Racing Association would like to find out more about women's sailing participation and boat ownership.

If we can build a profile on female boat ownership and participation it will help us to support women in sailing and in turn increase participation levels nationally.

We invite all women aged 18plus join our survey and share some information on your sailing habits, history and sailing goals. We have included questions for boat owners, as well as expanding the survey to dinghies, windsurfers and powerboaters, so while this is a collaboration with ICRA, we want to know about every sport.

Enter the survey here.

It will take approximately 10 minutes of your time and takes a look into boat ownership, boating activity, aspirations, training and your sporting activities.

We appreciate your time and so all entries that give their name and email will be entered into a draw to win a €100 voucher to any outdoor gear retail store in Ireland and five runners-up will win an Irish Sailing cap.

The prize draw survey entries will close midnight Friday 16th December 2022 and the draw will be made on Monday 19th December 2022.

If you have any questions or additional input into the subject of women boating activity, please email Gail MacAllister on

Thank you for your support in furthering the development and participation of women in sailing.
