South America:
Chile has announced it will welcome international travelers starting 1 October after having closed its borders for 16 months. As yet the opening does not mention maritime borders and only applies to the three international airports.
Pacific:
There is hopeful news from French Polynesia, where a compelling reason is no longer required to enter if all adults on board are fully vaccinated. Maritime borders remain closed so the application process must still be followed or you risk a fine. During September the majority of islands have been under a weekend lockdown due to the Delta variant, although restrictions are now gradually being lifted. Entry into Fiji via the Blue Lane Procedure for yachts, will now only be approved for fully vaccinated crew and passengers
South East Asia:
Indonesia opened up again to cruising boats in mid-September when the visa type B211A became available once more. Singapore, however, has suspended the arrival of recreational craft for the time being.
