While the sailors pulled on their gear, the remains of yesterday's storm still whipped wild white waves across the surface of the lake. The new teams shot a few nervous glances towards the racecourse, imagining what the Persico 69Fs would be like when fully powered up. The race committee chose to wait for appropriate conditions before launching the boats off the beach by Limone.

When the wind finally calmed, the racing heated up. Team DutchSail- Janssen de Jong won both of their races, Team France and Young Azzurra both taking second respectively. With ten teams and six boats in the regatta, each team races three out of five races in order to rotate all the teams through the boats. For race three, the last before the wind died, the all-conquering Dutch team stepped onto the support boat and Young Azzurra won the third match. The French and Italian teams now share second place in the overall rankings after 8 races.

A consistent theme on the new teams is the challenge of how to work together on a bigger boat than many of the sailors are used to. The Persico 69F fleet is full of various dinghy European and World Champions, but these are all solo or double-handed boats. Here, the 69F serves to introduce these sailors to the difficulties, and joys, of coordinating three or four sets of hands in complicated manoeuvres.
