Sail Canada names Patrick Godbout as Communications Manager

by Sail Canada 4 Mar 2021 16:10 PST

Sail Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Patrick Godbout as Communications Manager. He will begin his new role on Monday, March 8.

With close to 15 years of experience with various national sport organizations, Patrick Godbout contributed to the promotion of these sports with creativity by profiling the athletes, members and events, by creating partnerships, including with television networks, and by creating digital content, while having a continual interaction with the members. He also spent the last few years with a sport television network where he deepened his knowledges of the broadcasting industry.

Patrick has taken part in three Olympic Games as Press Attaché, working for over 15 different sports, including full time with Artistic Swimming Canada, Diving Canada and, more recently, Speed Skating Canada where he was in charge of communications for the short and long track teams before and during the 2018 Olympic Games.

At Sail Canada, he will be responsible for the external and internal communication strategies, the brand, the website and social media, while working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Business Development Manager to promote the organization and the sport of sailing, especially with the upcoming Olympic Games as well as all international and national competitions.

"I'm very happy to be back in the national sport environment and to join the team at Sail Canada, said Patrick Godbout. I can't wait to start working with my new colleagues as well as all of our partners, including the provincial associations, to promote the sport and to make it a new discovery to Canadians. There are great opportunities coming up and I'm very excited to contribute to promote this sport."

"Sail Canada is very pleased to have Patrick onboard with his skills and background, which, I believe, will help to improve our communications with our members and help us reach a new level, said Sail Canada's Chief Executive Officer, Don Adams. His experience in external and internal communications will benefit all of our members across the country. Please join me in welcoming Patrick on-board!"

Patrick Godbout can be reached at or by phone at 514-213-9897.
