Just two weeks after opening registration for the Solo National Championship at Mount's Bay Sailing Club, the initial entry limit of 100 National Solos is full.

In unprecedented times, the Solo fleet's resolve remains stronger than ever and the yearning to race at one of the UK's prettiest venues, Mounts Bay, Marazion will hopefully provide some light at the end of what is unarguably a dark planetary tunnel.

Missed It?

We hope restrictions nearer to the event will have eased significantly and to that end we have now opened up a reserve list. Please check out the Solo website for further information, www.solosailing.org.uk

What the club say:

"Many visiting sailors have told us that Mount's Bay Sailing Club is one of the finest venues for a dinghy championship in the UK, if not the world.

The sailing takes place in the waters to the south and south-west of the clubhouse in picturesque Mount's Bay. Launching and recovery is relatively easy via the club slipway to a sheltered sandy beach; care should be exercised when leaving the beach as there are some rocks on either side - our club sailors will be happy to offer advice.

Non-sailors of all age groups are well catered for. Cornwall is famous for its golden beaches and beautiful bays, but the county has a great deal more to offer: there is a range of attractions, including: The Eden Project; Land's End; Geevor Tin Mine; Porthcurno Telegraph Museum; Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station; and The Minack Theatre, to name but a few. You may also take a day trip to the Isles of Scilly from Land's End airport.

Marazion and the local area offers accommodation of all types and has excellent restaurants and pubs, many specialising in fresh local seafood. Whether you are looking for a top class sailing event or an enjoyable family holiday Mount's Bay will be the place to be in Championship Week this year."

Headline Sponsor

Rooster is one of the world's leading players in sailing apparel and the NSCA are proud to have Rooster support for the event and beyond. Competitors will all receive Rooster UV Neck Sleeve face coverings in the goodie bag and there will be some great Rooster kit up for grabs.

What Steve Cockerill from our Headline Sponsor says:

"Rooster is unbelievably excited to partner with the Solo class for the 2021 Nationals in Mounts Bay, not least because we all cannot wait to get back into these incredible events and race together again. Entrants will have access to custom Solo kit through our website and we'll be providing an array of prizes and more. Our history with the Solo fleet goes way back (and keep your eyes peeled for a potential future development ??) and in these testing times we're excited to be looking forward."

What the NSCA President, Doug Latta, says:

"2 weeks and 2 days after opening entries to the 2021 National Championships, we've reached our current entry limit of 100 boats. Don't despair if you missed the deadline, we will open a waiting list and where sailors can't attend or drop out, it'll be first come first served from the reserve list. Waiting list 'entry process' is now open, see the event page on our website. It's possible if CV-19 restrictions allow, entry numbers could be increased and we will do our best to get you out racing. For those entered, we've got a cracking week planned with an extraordinary number of superb sponsors, headlined by Rooster. In the meantime, don't forget to book your accommodation.

The NSCA are proud to have a raft of race day sponsors to maximise competitor enjoyment throughout the week. Harken, Superspars, HD Sails, KLG, P&B, Morgan Sails, Winder Boats, Fernhurst Books, Class Insurer Noble Marine and Powerworks EVC, along with Rooster will be providing a fantastic array of spot prizes, competitor caps and beer.

Thank you, as outgoing President, I'm so excited to be leaving on such a huge high! Your proud President."
