With the ancient and noble tradition of the "Coin ceremony", held in Livorno today, Benetti celebrated the laying of the keel of FB283, a 62-metre custom yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.

The exteriors and interiors are designed by Giorgio M. Cassetta and the hull lines by Van Oossanen. Nicola Nicolai Yacht Consulting & Project Management represents the Owner.

Benetti's history and stature have always been a "value-added" element making the Tuscan shipyard a point of reference for owners who love ancient seafaring traditions. No surprise then that for FB283, a 62-metre five-deck custom yacht with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, Benetti celebrated the laying of the keel with the "Coin ceremony", a tradition going back to ancient Roman times in which a coin is placed under the keel to bring good luck to the vessel and to its crew and passengers.

"To build FB283, Benetti is making use of its great experience in the realization of custom yachts proving to be able to make the most of its know-how, winning production and engineering processes. The owner, with whom we are in direct and open communication, immediately appreciated this aspect along with Benetti's innovation capabilities and also the Yard's ability to give life to his requests," said Benetti's Chief Commercial Officer Sebastiano Fanizza.

The owner asked for this custom yacht to satisfy four personal requirements: speed, silent running, autonomy and fun for the family. So Benetti, with Van Oossanen and Giorgio M. Cassetta, worked assiduously on the design of the fast displacement hull and onboard spaces. In fact, in addition to a tapering stern and a long bow, FB283 is designed to guarantee high performance (with a cruising speed of around 20 knots) and at the same time sufficient autonomy to cover long distances without stopping.

The sinuously elegant design of the exterior lines, together with the essential and modern style of interiors flooded with light, produces a comfortable ambience with a family feel to it, and lots of storage space for diving equipment, tender and water toys.

"Right from the outset we established a transparent and constructive relationship with the owner, which made it possible to define this exciting project in a wealth of detail. We're very grateful for being given the freedom to envisage a project that will be a milestone for our firm," said Giorgio M. Cassetta.

"We are honored to have been entrusted with the management of a project with so many innovative features and challenging deadlines. I am thrilled to help the owner's vision became real especially working with such an experienced shipyard and outstanding team of professionals," said Nicola Nicolai of Nicola Nicolai Yacht Consulting & Project Management who acted as Pre-Purchase Advisor and will manage the entire build process as Owner's Representative and Project Manager.
