In a heavy swell though light winds, six yachts were in the winning ranks in this 11:00am start. Team Zorra, a frequent Yacht Club winner stayed on top in the contested IRC race.
The IRC class contestants were racing for the Dearden Stag trophy and SYC class for the Sextant trophy as well as series points. The race finish was tight, with wih Vado 18 seconds behind Kassy, and Ruffian 2 seconds behind Vado.
Trophies will be presented at the Annual Dinner Dance at the Royal Hotel Scarborough on 9th November. Because the IRC race permits most vessels to enter, with handicapping based on hull, keel, sail measurements, and weight of the yacht, a mix of yachts can enter, and winners are influenced by a mix of tide, wind, and on-board skill. Weather was a light breeze and the left over of a Northerly swell. Sunday's turnout was good.
There were however two other races made up of 707 and Sonata yachts. Grand Day Out was the 707 winner and Zeris the Sonata winner.
