Scottish Hansa Class TT at Clyde Cruising Club, Bardowie Loch

by Moira Campbell 20 Aug 2019 08:38 PDT 18 August 2019

This was the third event in our 2019 Scottish Hansa Traveller Series. It was Held by Clyde Cruising Club Dinghy Section at Bardowie Loch, Craigmaddie Road.

A wild and wet morning greeted the sailors, conditions were very testing and the two Hansa 2.3 sailors decided not to compete due to the high winds and gusts. However, the three experienced 303 sailors decided to go out and they had a blast!

Race 1 saw Jessica Campbell gain first with Rory McKinna second and Mike Everitt third. Race 2 Jessica won again with the lads swapping places, Mike second and Rory third.

After lunch conditions were much the same rain and strong winds. Race 3 saw Rory gain a first at his home club, Mike second and Jessica third. Race 4 and Mike gained first, Jessica second and Rory third.

A very even close competition with lots of laughter and excitement. The spectators were treated to some spectacular sailing seeing the Hansa 303s sailed to the edge. Masts leaning way over but returning to vertical with gasps from the spectators.

The competitors were presented with goody bags filled with excellent prizes and Marjorie Greevey presented Mike Everitt with a special prize for the sailor who had travelled furthest to compete.

Hansa Class UK would like to thank Clyde Cruising Club Dinghy Section for allowing us to join in with Duncan's Regatta. An annual regatta sponsored by Duncan's Chandlery, Glasgow.
