On Saturday 22nd June St Helier Yacht Club held their annual Two-Handed Race in near perfect conditions.
With an Easterly force 3-4 wind the course was set with a beat to windward to Canger Buoy south of Seymour Tower and then a run downwind to Hinguette before reaching back into the Small Roads.
The fleet was split into two: the faster Class1 and the slower Class 2 yachts.
In Class 1 Abracadabra with Rhys Perkins and Bob de la Haye aboard managed to overtake Solis Ortus at the first mark and were able to maintain their lead to the finish with Zanzibar, Alan Stevens and Chris Deahl third and Arctic Tern, Phil Burton and David de Carteret fourth.
In Class 2 there was a tight race. When handicaps were taken into account Mike Smith and Rachel Smith in Sombrero just took first place from Emma Bateman and Laura Speller [2 Farr] with Tom Vallois [Moonlight Sonata] third and Nick Bailhache and Bill Harris [Fillipene] fourth.
Thanks to Rodney Challinor for presenting the prizes.
