The 2019 RS Vareo National Championship took place this year at Paignton SC together with their famous POSH regatta.

Day One

The RS Vareos gained prime position on the green (along with one very early arrival OK dinghy) as pictured Friday morning as the club laid on an extra day's racing before the main event just for us.

Lovely sunny weather and steady 10 knots for day one.

Defending champ Luke Fisher is sailing well with a 2,1,3 so far but overnight leader is Jon Nutall with 1,2,1. The rest of the fleet have an even spread of results so there's everything to play for going into day two.

Day Two

The wind changed to the North for the day and was generally lighter. This gave relatively little chop which appealed more to the pond sailors amongst us. However in the end Luke and Jon got the first two spots in every race except race six where Nick Crickmore found the go switch taking the lead on the first off-wind leg and then building to finish well clear, only to be disqualified later so normal service resumed.

Day Three

The breeze clocked right and settled earlier than forecast so racing got under way on time. It was light with an Easterly chop, slowly dying throughout the day so favouring the lighter sailors. Nick Crickmore found his upwind pace getting two seconds and a third. Luke 'no mistakes' Fisher put in his usual solid performance to get two bullets, but a first in race one just before the breeze got too light sealed the deal for Jon.
