Spencers Estate Agents sponsor Royal Lymington Yacht Club Thursday Night Sailing Series

by Vicky Leen 27 Apr 2019 00:59 PDT 25 April - 29 August 2019

Spencers Estate Agents, the leading independent estate agency for the New Forest, is to sponsor the very popular Royal Lymington Yacht Club (RLymYC) Thursday night sailing series, which runs from 25 April through to 29 August, 2019.

Thursday Night Racing is extremely popular in the Solent when over 100 boats, ranging from 20ft Sports boats to 45ft + Cruiser Racers race with local crews of mixed competitiveness, ability, age and experience, regularly competing against each other. The series is split into 18 consecutive Thursdays with class starts for IRC, Lymington adjusted handicaps 2 and 3 plus Classics, Folkboats and J/80s.

The highly competitive RlymYC Thursday night racing starts at 18:00 hours and follows a 'round the cans' format designed to enable everyone to be back in the bar in good time. On the water competition is always taken seriously, but the camaraderie and weekly prize giving back in the bar is an equally important part of the event for the 200+ sailors.

Rob Batten, Founding Director of Spencers Estate Agents, said: "Sailing is a sport that many of our clients enjoy. When we speak to people looking to buy houses in the New Forest, they often say that proximity to the water and boating in general is an important factor in their choice of where to live. The RLymYC Thursday night sailing series is a competitive event, while also appealing to families enjoying a summer evening on the water. We like its inclusive nature, which aligns well with the strong and long term relationships we are building with the New Forest community".

RLymYC Commodore Roger Garlick said: "We are delighted that Spencers are sponsoring the Thursday night racing series. It is a great fit between a respected local business network and the wider sailing community living in and around the New Forest.
