It's just over two weeks until the 2019 Fireball Open Meeting Circuit begins at Staunton Harold Sailing club on 23/24 March. The water level is back to normal and the club members are looking forward to laying on a great event!
This Open is part of the Gul Golden Dolphin Series. Gul is continuing their fantastic support to the UK Fireball Association through sponsorship of this series, with prizes awarded to the top 3 positions in each of the Bronze, Silver and Gold fleets, as well as overall prizes in the series (again distributed through the fleet).
To qualify for the Golden Dolphin Series and to be eligible to win the Gul vouchers, competitors must be members of the Fireball Association. Membership requirements are defined on the UKFA website. In summary:
The basic form of membership is now that of a 'Local Member'. This category of membership is [the minimum] required for all competitors competing in Golden Dolphin-badged open meetings (there is one variation to this rule - see below *). Host clubs are required to ensure that all competitors are, at least, 'Local' members.
* A variation to this rule exists for fully paid-up members of a club that is hosting a Golden Dolphin open meeting. In these cases, only one individual in a competing boat need be a 'Local' member. For the avoidance of doubt, any competitors benefiting from this variation must comply with the full Golden Dolphin membership requirements if they compete in Golden Dolphin events that are hosted by other clubs.
With the new Local Membership at just £8 per person, everyone can be in with a chance to win a prize that will more than cover their membership fee, not to mention the other benefits such as discounts on insurance with UK Global, and purchases from Pinnell & Bax and Ropelocker.
