Day three at the Etchells World Championship was the first day that competitors and organisers headed out to the race track on time with thanks to the wind being more cooperative.

After a small on water delay, the first attempt at race five was one I will personally never forget. With the tide ripping from the starboard to port end of the line, LOTS of competitors found themselves in trouble, and Kevin Wilson on the pin boat was heard on the radio saying "This is the pin, I have boats all over me"!

Second attempt at race five got away, however, 11 teams were black flagged. Check out our aerial coverage below straight down the start line.

At the first top mark for race five, Gen XY had a handy lead on the fleet, a great position given the team are currently third overall, then Animal House, Bertrand 1440, Rat Pack, The General, America Jane II, Skanky Gene and Racer C 1406 the current series leader.

By the gate, Bertrand and his team of Ben Lamb and Nitro had leap frogged into second position and headed around the starboard gate out to the left, while leaders Gen XY rounded the port mark and headed right, back to where their gains on the first work had been.

The right again paid up the last work of race five; as Gen XY extended their lead, Jay Cross and his Skanky Gene team moved into second, and Bertrand 1440 dropped back to third.

First attempt for the race six start ended up being a general recall with stacks of boats on the starboard line. Ross Wilson, PRO was heard over the radio "Competitors the next start will be a black flag, and some of you may want to consider using the other start line..."!

For take two of race six, The Cure were over way earlier the gun and were scored the only black flag.

First top mark for race six at the Etchells World Championship from the drone aka “Sky Puppy” revealed some action that was far more like Bumper Cars than sailing. Martin Hill and his Lisa Rose team led around their third first top mark for the regatta...

The first bottom mark for race six; leaders Lisa Rose, followed by Laurie Smith and Gen XY rounding out the podium - great position for Gen XY to potentially take the regatta lead.

Final top mark - the leaders remained unchanged and we all released that the real race would be to beat the sunset!

Lawrie Smith from GBR snuck in once again on the run to take the gun from Martin Hill, and Gen XY with the most consistent day of all crews wrapped up the podium.

After six races, which now means we have a series, Gen XY lead from Thornburrow and his Racer C team, with the American, Jay Cross on Skanky Gene moving into third, Lawrie Smith's win pushes him up to fourth, and Martin Hill and the team on Lisa Rose drop to fifth.

It will be a big day on the water today with a drop coming into play after seven races!
