More than 80 young sailors took to the water for the North Wales OnBoard Festival in Bala, where the youngest was just 6-years-old.

There was a good turnout through the All Afloat programme as well as from the clubs, showing the sailing charity launched earlier this summer is already having an impact.

"We had two days of really good racing," explained RYA Cymru Wales North Wales development officer Rosy Hearn. "It was a great turnout with lots of representatives from the clubs around North Wales. It was more about being involved than winning, but congratulations to the clubs and individuals who did well."

The North Wales OnBoard Festival for sailing and windsurfing was for children under the age of 16, with racing in the main fleet and an OnBoard Regatta group.

Port Dinorwic were the best club overall, while Colwyn Bay were the leading OnBoard fleet.

The main fleet general handicap was won by Holyhead's Louis Mills and Kieran Lewis in a 420 boat, with Port Dinorwic's Leah and Cerys Murphy second in a Miracle and clubmates Jac Bailey and Jacob Knock third in a Laser 3000.

In the Topper fleet Port Dinorwic's Luc Sharrock was first, with clubmate Annabel Pierce Jones second, Llandudno's Matthew Stubbins third.

Pwllheli's Gareth Jones Davies won the Optimist fleet, with Gresford's Dylan Ellis Jones second and Llyn Brenig's Rhys Dolder third.

Llandudno's Freddie MacLaverty won the Tera Sport fleet, with Port Dinorwic pair Morgan Rogers and Ben Sinfield in second and third respectively.

In the windsurfing category, Charlie Hulme-Duvall finished first ahead of Plas Menai pair Osian Parry and Henry Francis. Fflur Pierce was the leading girl.

In the general handicap fleet, All Afloat Colwyn Bay's Alys Lees came out top ahead of Holyhead's Esme Redmond and clubmate Alexandra Roberts.
