MS Amlin's brand ambassador, Sir Robin Knox Johnston, unveiled the winner of the MS Amlin "Life on the Water" photography competition 2018 during a winners' reception at the Southampton Boat Show. The reception took place on the MS Amlin stand (F022) on Tuesday.

Run throughout the summer boating season, MS Amlin have been on the hunt for the best images representing the essence of boating and what it means to those involved. Whilst the MS Amlin Yacht team are focused on boat insurance, they know that for sailors and boat owners, it's more than just boat insurance; it is about the unique lifestyle that comes alongside owning a boat.

Across the three competition categories of Family Time, Passing on Knowledge and Escaping Everyday Life, a total of 174 entries were received. The MS Amlin team undertook judging for the category winners and runners up, whilst the choice of overall winner was handed to the boating public who voted via Facebook and on the MS Amlin boat show stand before the winners' reception, where they can also see the category winners on display.

The winners in each category are:

  • Family Time - Ari Segal
  • Sharing Knowledge - Dianne Stanford
  • Escaping Everyday Life - Russ Tabiner

The runners up are:

  • Family Time - John Goldfinch & Rebecca Woolnough
  • Sharing Knowledge - Chris Atwell & Mark Rothwell
  • Escaping Everyday Life - David Luetchford & Sally Wattam
Each of the category winners receive £200 of Marinestore Chandlery Vouchers, with the overall winner being presented with an additional voucher for £200 during the presentation. The runners up each collect a Helly Hansen Jacket.

MS Amlin Marketing & Business Development Co-ordinator - Sonia Hook said, "It was great to see the quantity and quality of entries to the 2018 competition. It is clear that there are a number of talented photographers amongst the boating community and it is great to have been able to showcase a selection of entries on our Southampton Boat Show stand and host the winners' reception".

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said, "These great pictures provide a good insight into life afloat, showing a broad spectrum of the world of boating from both inland and coastal waters. It has been a pleasure to view them all and I look forward to unveiling the overall winner".

Competition winners and runners up can be found on the MS Amlin Yacht Facebook and Twitter pages as well as the website, www.msamlin.com/en/insurance/boat/life-on-the-water.html
