Volvo Ocean Race: Images from the finish of Leg 10

Leg 10 of the Volvo Ocean Race had another close finish, with six of the seven boats finishing close together very late at "night" - but being so far north, it was still twilight.

The boats finished reaching in 25kts of breeze sailing across the swells - very hard sailing conditions for the crews racing in in-shore racing mode.

The points situation with one leg to sail is that two boats are on 65 points - MAPFRE and Team Brunel. Dongfeng is on 64 points but is also likely to receive a bonus point awarded to the team with the fastest elapsed time. So effectively all three start the final leg - slightly longer than the length of the Sydney Hobart or Fastnet races - on equal points.

The winner of Leg 11 also receives a bonus point. Obviously boats finishing in a podium place outside of the top three on the leaderboard will have a significant effect on the overall result.

For Team AkzoNobel and Team Brunel, The Hague is their home port - making an even greater incentive to finish first. The top three are likely to match race the final leg, Team AkzoNobel is likely to take some strategic risks to receive the accolades for a home port win.
