With only two more stages to go, the difference between the number one and three in the general classification is only three points. Knowing that the results of the In-Port Race series are decisive when tied, the In Port race is more important than ever.
Skipper Bouwe Bekking is clear about the objective for today: "Ideally, we will achieve an excellent result".
Team Brunel moving up
In the In-Port series, the Spanish Mapfre has a eight-point lead over the Chinese/French Dongfeng Race Team. Dongfeng has a six-point lead over Team Brunel. Due to the win in the previous In-Port race in Newport, Team Brunel is now in third position, one point ahead of Team AkzoNobel. As in the general classification, Team Brunel is also catching up in the In Port series.
Bekking wants to win
Bekking: "The goal for today is clear: we want to win. Ideally, we achieve an excellent result and end up with both Dongfeng and Akzo at the back. But it's still sailing and the conditions here are treacherous with the current and the wind, so we'll see."
