The Magic Marine Easter Regatta is an event with a big history. Since 1985 Optimist sailors around the globe find their way to the Netherlands.

For already 10 years Magic Marine is the main sponsor of the event and every year again it's a pleasure to see the young excited and nervous kids arrive at the Braassemermeer. During the days we see them developing friendships and grow in the event, an honour to be part of!

Are you joining us at Yacht Club Braassemermeer for the 33rd edition of the Magic Marine Easter Regatta from Friday 30 March till Monday 2 April 2018?

Where Afrodite Zegers got the Magic Marine Easter Egg

Afrodite Zegers went to the Easter Regatta for the first time in 2005. Not only was it the first Easter Regatta for Afrodite, but coming from Greece, it was also the first time she sailed in The Netherlands. It was also then when she got the Magic Marine Easter Egg.

Afrodite talks about her first Easter Regatta:

"Although it has been 12 years after my participation during the Easter Regatta of 2005, I can still recall as if it was yesterday how it was for me to race for the first time in the Netherlands. Although the weather was cold for me, I felt a warm welcome from the Dutch kids and parents and from the club. I still remember the Magic Marine flags and signs. My very first wetsuit and gear was from Magic Marine and it felt very familiar to participate in an event hosted and supported by this brand. Back in Greece when you had Magic Marine gear you felt very cool and modern. And now I was the only Greek kid to participate in an event with Magic Marine gear everywhere!

"After a few days of training together with the Dutch Team the races started. I loved the shifty conditions in the lake and I started leading the boys and the girls. I found it quite a challenge to be ahead of the boys. A chance to show how strong girls can be! When the races ended and I had just won the regatta everyone seemed very happy. I was the first girl to ever win the event. During the prize giving I was overwhelmed! I got my own mini Easter Egg and many gifts!

"Who would know then what I know now. Five years after my win during the Easter Regatta, I moved permanently to the Netherlands and became Dutch. Magic Marine became my sponsor in 2011 towards and during my win in the 470 Youth Worlds in New Zealand. This makes my experience in 2005 even more special."

The Magic Marine Team is part of our sailing family

Now a days Afrodite is still part of the Magic Marine team together with her crew Anneloes van Veen. They sail together in the 470 fleet and went to the Olympics for the first time in 2016 where they ended in 4th place.

Afrodite: "We see the Magic Marine team as part of our sailing family, we have been supported by them for such a long time and they grow together with us as a team. During the years we developed a solid relationship where they appreciate our feedback in products and they help us in various situations."
