Jim Young's versatile cruiser racer continues to deliver competitive, fun, one design racing and cruising around the country.

Next weekend it is Auckland's turn with the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron hosting the 32nd National Championships on the waters North of Takapuna, site of the 34th America's Cup.

The 2017 champion and current North Sprints series leader Mark Bond (Slipstream 3) will likely be defending his title against 2015 winner Zane Gifford (Raging Hormones).

The whole fleet has however closed in recent years resulting in the cordite being shared, a lot of finishes within seconds and occasionally tied. The results could go to one of many boats on their day.

It's great to see new owners Nick Gillies (Waka Huia) and Gavin and Craig Haslip (Babe) stepping into boats and joining the racing scene.

The forecast for the weekend looks like a light to moderate ten to fifteen knots from the North East, perfect conditions for the race area.

The racing and results can be followed on the RNZYS event page and also on the Young 88 Facebook page.
