Day two of racing started off wet and cloudy with winds filling in from the northwest. All fleets were launched and ready the scheduled start time of 11am with 5-7 knots of wind building. The wind continued to increase as the day progressed with 9-13 knots of wind for races 2 & 3.
Today was the last day of qualifiers for the Radial and 420 fleets; they will now be split into championship fleets for the final two days of racing.
Leading the Laser fleet on day two is Forrest Waccholz (ON) in 1st with 3 bullets on the day. Brayden Garvey (ON) and Conrad Vandlik (USA) follow in 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the 4.7 fleet Henryk Luczynski (ON) leads, followed by Johnny Walton (USA) in 2nd and Benjamin Derbyshire (BAH) in 3rd.
The Radial fleet results were not available at time of publication.
In double-handed action, Arie Moffat & Pat Wilson (ON) continue to lead the 420 fleet into the championship IMG_9081series, followed by Terra Lanteigne & Georgia Lewin-LaFrance (NS) in 2nd and Gray Snyder & Jack Porter (ON) in 3rd. In skiff action Eric Lyall & Andrew Moreno (BC) continue sit in 1st for the 29er fleet with four wins in five races, while teammates Freja & Astrid Frykman (BC) are 2nd and Cameron Shaw & Henry Lockyer (NS/ON) are 3rd.
RS:X sailor Ignacio Berenguer (MEX) moves into 1st in the North American Championship, followed by Gabriel Verrier Paquette (CAN) in 2nd andIMG_8485 Raul Lopez (USA) in 3rd. Cristina Oritz Vivas (MEX) leads the female RS:X fleet, with Laurence Bonneau-Charland (CAN) in 2nd and Nicole Level (MEX) in 3rd. The Youth leader in the RS:X is Juan Varela (MEX) in 1st, Mack Van den Eerenbeemt in 2nd and Zane Feder (CAN(ON)) in 3rd. In the 293 fleet Geronimo Nores (USA) sits in 1st, followed by Mariana Aguilar (MEX) in 2nd and Anthony Swaelens (CAN(QC)) in 3rd.
Racing continues tomorrow with the 420 and Radial fleets starting their finals series with a scheduled 3 races. All other fleets will continue onto their 3rd day of racing.
