The Moray Yacht Axis, which is an association of yacht clubs in the inner Moray Firth, held their second set of races at Cromarty on Saturday. These races are supported by marinechandlery.com, the Newcastle based online chandler.

The race officer was James Burns from Chanonry Sailing Club. Conditions were ideal but for the northerly wind direction which made it very difficult to set a course with a reasonable length of beat.

The first race in class 1 was led from start to finish by John Prentice in his Contessa 32 Circe. He was followed home by Rhythm ‘n’ Blue the Sonata of John Burgis and Danny Coutts in La'Cushla an Arpège.

On the water class 2 was very closely contested with Mike Burns in Fram beating George Selvester in Heart of Gold by one second. The places were reversed on corrected time. These two were followed home by Sea Jay and Windflower.

The second race saw one or two non starters. Tom Owen in Duo had unfortunately lost his main halliard up the mast and was unable to hoist his mainsail. John Prentice once again lead home class 1 this time followed home by Danny Coutts. In class 2 Fram prevailed followed by Robert Hogg in Sea Jay.

Overall Circe was the winner in class 1 followed by La'Cushla and Rhythm ‘n’ Blue. Class 2 was won by Fram followed by Sea Jay and Heart of Gold.
