The 2009 Sparkman & Stephens Association AGM Regatta, hosted by the Royal Forth Yacht Club took place on the waters of the Firth of Forth, Scotland. The event kicked of a full programme of entertainment for the weekend, which was supported by Old Pulteney Whisky & the Loch Fyne Restaurant.

The regatta brought together eight yachts of various designs ranging from the She 33 “Shenanigan of Hamble” to the 45’ Sailmaster “Wervelwind” from the Netherlands, in near perfect sailing conditions. However it was the oldest boat in the fleet, local yacht “Rumbuster” which led the fleet around the first mark, closely followed Sasha, a lovely 41’ wooden yacht & Rubicon, a Tartan 34 both from Germany. At the windward mark, first to round was the 45’ Aluminium one off “Tramp of Airlie”, hotly pursued by Sasha, Rumbuster, & the She 36 “Sherpa”. By the leeward mark “Sasha” had closed in on “Tramp”, but “Tramp” held on to take the gun, followed by “Sasha”. However both were unable to shake off “Rumbuster”, the 1966 wooden derivative of the Swan 36, which sailed home 3rd, but first place on handicap.

The prize giving was held at an evening reception on the Royal Yacht Britannia, & was presented by Hamish Mackay, chairman of RYA Scotland. A special thanks to the staff & sailing committee of the RFYC, Hamish Mackay, Old Pulteney Whisky & Loch Fyne Restaurants.
