There's another contender for the title of "Best drunken post of the season"

http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2214&get=last#62149 - http://www.yachtsandyachting.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2 214&get=last#62149

Then again, I suspect a double entry: some of PB's drunk friends may have stolen his password...

If it's the case, let's quote him copiously, so he can't edit his post later... not like Mr Gruitt

oi! dont be cheeky now!

i have alot of free time on my hands and alot of cheap drink to take advantage of and friends to enjoy it with. Anyway, being a sailor, it a requirment i enjoy a good tipple every now and then.

And last night was paticularly messy because of drinking games with vodka before we had even left my mates house to go to man met union where drinks were 99p and we proceeded to demolish their sambuca till all they had left was black sambuca, by which point none of us could really tell the difference (even tho one is quite obv black ) so just kept going. i dont get THAT drunk that often, its just been a good month. also i dont advise getting that drunk ever coz i feel RUBBISH today, just tried to go for a run and nearly died, only made it about half way along my normal route  drinking isn't clever kids!

im not setting a very good role modle here, good job no one looks up to me!

will really try and stop drunk post from now on. sorry everybody again

We had cheap drink (i dont remember the price) and Holly Wiloughby (i think i love her) last night. Twas quite messy. Tonight we have 90p drinks and the Venga Boys. I feel tonight could be even worse!

At this point i must add that Mr. NOble has ditched us all at the might Strathclyde (which btw has the best union bar in britain) in favour of a week with his girlfriend. BOOOOOOO!

I see a recurring theme here.... seems to me that almost all unions claim they have the best bar! Nottingham Trent didn't claim to have the best, it wasn't, but it was still a field of dreams.

Intersting fact... the Luffbra union own a blackcurrant farm to produce the blackcurrant cordial for their snakebite! Think that they have the richest union in the country. Shame the rest of the town is garbage! Although saying that I had an epic saturday night in Echo's. Even got to see a lad get in a fight with another lad, and he shouted "yeah well you didn't have to sh@g my mum!" lovely place....

I was walking along past the sea and this guy who was dressed head to toe in yachty clothes, said to his friends... 'You see the tide is out now, it comes in every 12 hours...'

Hmmmmm...Since when was there a tide on the med!?!?!

Err, last time I looked the tide onmly had a range of a few metres most places here in the UK...

Did you mean a few centimetres?

Posted By: Prince Buster
Date Posted: 25 Sep 06 at 11:08am

no i meant a few metres.  The tidal range in Le Lavendou was 3 metres.

And where i am the tidal range is a few miles!!!!

-------------
international moth - "what what?"

Posted By: tgruitt

no no, the tidal range in the height it rises and falls, not how far it travels along the beach/rocks etc. In the med in only rises and falls a few centimetres, over here it rises and falls a few meters!

-------------
Needs to sail more...

Posted By: foaminatthedeck

Most of the so called 'tide' in the med is due to atmospric pressure (range 10cm), the effect of sun and moon is almost negliable.

Appart from near the straights where the tidal flow is strong but due to the massive quaties of water moving the range is small.

There is (or was) a piddly little boat house for the rowing club down at Swaythling just behind Connaught - a friend of mine used to keep his laser there and got sailing about 4 times when the tide was in...

Storage? what storage? I used to be in R Block - if you are in any of the new blocks (P, Q & R) then you get kicked out of your room every holiday and have to move all your stuff out.  Make friends quickly with somebody in the old quad so you can move your kit round there every holiday...

I got Id'd while in the same pub as Mr. Noyce got ID'd after sailing one wednesday evening. The odd thing was my dad was the one buying me the drink. I was just standing talking to someone from the club. My dad was none to pleased when she wouldnt belive him that I was 18. I eventualy told him to give up (oncehe had embarrest himself) and just showed her my ID.

was it not one mr strawberry and one other cherub sailor at largs that got us sent out of Mcabes whilst awaiting pizza as the bar maid did not beleive they were 21, and yet the rest of us were probably younger, well i think i was youngest there.

It must be something in Brighton water that blurs their vision: last time I was ID-ed, it was in the Lanes in Brighton too. Admittedly, it was a LOOOOONG time ago, but I certainly didn't look underage!

(and I was well-behaved, honestly)

That said, I hope our glasgow based forumites will not be wimping out of tommorows session?
There will be curry involved beforehand and paddy seems keen on being allowed to control the chilli content....but you hard northerners can take it, right?
