19ft? I was hoping to survive an Atlantic Crossing, thought that required 28ft to be comfortable, although my knowledge of lead mines is sketchy, I think it needs something a tad bigger..

28ft? You looking for luxury - you'll be demanding a sauna next.

10ft is plenty:

(probably helps to be insane beforehand)

We once met an American lad in Durban RSA who had sailed all the way from the Great Lakes (Chicago?) in a Hunter 19 with his German Shepherd dog. How on earth he took the dog for a walk remains a puzzle.

Open 60 and foil across. Rather defeats the object as you get there is 5 days, but you might get lucky and snap the foils, lose the rig and have to get across under jury rig taking several weeks.

Otherwise, Contessa 32.

Lot of disparity in those Contessa 32 prices, what would one look out for, is it the age, or the equipment they come with I wonder?

Listen to the opening statement and I think we know who iGRF is modelling himself on and his grand expedition.

Don't buy a boat iGRF, build it out of Reed Grass... like a real man. ;-)
