I saw some D-One photos of the stand... have to say, if 'image turnaround' was a criteria in the Crufts Prize, then the D-One should win hands down, it looks a totally different beast to a few years ago.

Thats very kind James thank you for the kind words.  There is a load of passion for the boat, within the newly appointed class.

The Dinghy show was great for us, we had loads of footfall!  I am going to be bloody busy over the next few months.  I have about 4 demo days coming up (Days not test sails) which can only be a good thing for the class.

Very busy show for us, and I think generally. Not much time for looking round or photos, but it does look like dinghy sailing is quite healthy considering the economy. Here's one of the X1/X0 stand as I couldn't see any in Mark's collection.
I like to take pictures of sailing, but I'd rather be sailing!

So, if newer is better than older, I assume the Topper Argo is a better boat than the AltO?

Topper? why would an old hat maker compare with a boat?

I enjoyed the show. I lost count of the number of symetric classes that now have the wizzy twin pole system (Scorpion, Fireball, 505, Merlin, etc), I just fear for the helms eyes when the crew releases the pole. I envisage the 'Rooster Full Face Helmet Pro' launching soon for the helms of these boats so they dont smash up their faces!

I didnt think the RS900 looked that innovative, looked like a 49er to my untrained eye. The aura did look innovative though, those racks looked nice, I couldnt see the join that they must have to allow then to be trailed on the road. I wish I had taken a look at the Merlin with canting rig though.

I was one of many, so I understand, that were somewhat dismissive to Luca about his baby when we saw it on his dark little stand back in 2009. However, sailing is believing.

Whilst placing obstacles in the way of everything new and interesting with the old adage 'well it hasn't got a class so we don't sail it here' thereby forever consigning the sport to the margins of the charismatically challenged and those well versed in coffin avoidance.

The Merlin Rocket all the time it's a humorous 'send up' of itself by the modern materials chucked at it, is fine but it shouldn't be forgotten the fact, it still is an old and potentially dangerous craft for a number of reasons, not least those airbags that are supposed to be residual buoyancy, not to mention the dubious competence of  crews that often use it. Hence it should be confined to once a year use in the river nr Kingsbridge by drunkards posing as sailors as a good old laugh at what sailing used to be and that be an end to it.

Don't even start me off on what should happen to the GP14.

thats why you add so much to the forum, you make it buzz, and fizz and make it fun Clap

and the fact that your nearly allways wrong( whether by accident or design Wink),if allways well thought out, makes it even more fun!!!!!!!!! LOL LOL LOL
