Overstating a bit to call it the Perfect boat for mixed crews.
I would say that the Tornado class is proving that it is POSSIBLE to sail with a mixed crew.

I am probably a good target market for the mixed multi-hull. Our next High Performance boat most likely will be a cat, I sail with my partner and we sail skiffs at the moment. Seems like the logical progression and we'd have the potential to campaign seriously. I've sailed the Tornado in the past and although I like the boat, if it got selected for the Olympic slot, we'd buy an F18 as the Olympic slot would not be enough for us to consider the boat over an F18. Something along the lines of a F16 derivative may have us though.
This is just my gut reaction, and I admire the efforts going into to get the Tor' back, but I think it's a backward step. Technology and design has moved on a bit, maybe multi's at the Olympics need to. Any high performance cat will give you good footage at the Olympics, and my instincts are, although you can do a Tor' on the cheap, can you really win on one. Yes you can get a really good one and it lasts for ages, but I recall from a while back, getting the right one wasn't that easy. Things could have changed though. Sorry to be the pesamist.
