Butler Boats - the UK Farr 3.7 builders need space. Subsequently their 3.7 moulds need to go. Female & Male moulds. I think they are FREE to a good home. They also have two boat hulls - not free but low cost. One framed out hull that needs a deck and one finished hull. They are moving to GP14s. Be good to keep these in the class. Contact them for more info.

So sadly not a great success story for Butler Boats ( more interest in GPS). -a bit sad, but it shows how tough the singlehanded market is ( and also shows how tough it is making a living building boats)

I think that the market has consolidated around the big beasts like RS and Hartley that can afford a professional marketing effort and expect this trend to continue. There will be niche classes that appeal to smaller subsets of people that can get sufficient scale (Nothing like RS of course) to be viable but the trick here is to pick a niche that is unique enough and yet large enough! In my class we have seen alot more interest post-COVID with the builders order book full for the next year and 50+ boats sailing regularly. At our last open we had 18 boats show up which was more than the Blazes managed with whom we shared the event. As I am a hiker rather than a trapeze artist I have little insight into the Farr's market but from the little I know I suspect that it does have a unique appeal, its just that the subset of people for whom it appeals is too few.

.....more than the Blazes managed Pretty close to the following Blaze Paignton Nationals so that is hardly a surprise. We can't all automatically expect weekend 'away passes' whenever ! ...and the Blaze Nationals was rather well attended of course ......
