Terrific image JimC.
BTW. What's the story on the four boats without sliding seats but slim fixed wings ?

Sailing two up and 403 sailing one solo. Lower tech but any less respected?

These are Taifuns. They're a German class, but the general style is typical of quite a few racing Canoe classes in Northern Europe - Sweden has several, running from a real junior class up to a boat that's bigger than an FD. They're not really fixed wings, typically they are pivoting in one way or another so they store inboard when not sailing and they're very small, only really for upwind sailing. I think they're a great idea - give you that extra bit of oomph for the beats without all the complications and money of full sized wings. |

Thanks Jim much obliged. They look to have a practical elegance about them.
I wonder why the scene in Europe is so different from ours? Cultural and different waters, large lakes? I guess a combination of multiple reasons. |

These days I've come to think that the scene everywhere is different from everywhere else. Even in the UK we have astonishing diversity between different clubs, from the high profile barns on the coast to little tiny clubs on rivers where they sail obscure classes that have long disappeared everywhere else.
