Id also say a Dart 18 or Dart 15 or possibly the Dart 16. Dont know much about Hobies, prehaps a 16? It really depends on how much you want to spend, trapeze or no trapeze (although its easy on a cat IMO), where you sail and how big is the place you sail etc etc. F16 is a great boat aswel!

jdr

I note from your dinghy section question that you are near Cotswold - there are not many clubs that accept cats in this area, in fact possibly just two, Thornbury and Farmoor.  Thornbury has a few Dart 18 and Dart 15's that race regularly as well as a couple of A's, Spitfires and a superbly sailed F18 LOL.

I used to have a Shadow and rate them very highly but at 93kg I would think that you are a bit heavy for it especially downwind in a handicap event.  That said the Shadow circuit is growing and I would guess a good chunk of the fleet are of a similat weight to yourself.

Possibly a Dart 18 or 15 may suit your needs - would carry your weight and easy to sail either one or two up.  Depending on how much money you want to spend you could consider a F16 which again gives you the single/double handed option.

The A class is great butwouldn't give you a double handed option and will cost a bit more than a D15/8.

Apologies, I have a similar post in the dinghy section but thought I may as well ask here also in case there is no reading across forums.

I am interested in getting into dinghy sailing but I have no idea which class to go for, there seem to be many!

I have a lot of experience on yachts (over 10,000 miles) and will mostly be sailing the dinghy single handed. I weigh 93kg and am 6' 3". I have no dinghy experience as yet.

Which Cats would be suitable, don't want anything too basic as although I am no expert, i do have a fair graps of sail trim.

Any advice please?
