According to a post on Northampton sc fb page .
We have peace in our time. 😀
The water company has with drawn its threat to change the sailing clubs lease.
Hopefully more details will follow in due course.

Website document download for committee shows a lot of vacant positions, including Vice Commodore, can't find anything to contradict this, probably be corrected shortly

As I said these are just my musings . Some of them come directly from a ex commodore of the club over a drink in that  clubs bar, some are my own and some come directly from the statement from the current commodore about the situation saying that the club cannot survive with out the land to do the large events .
BUT my info is a few years old now so if the information is incorrect or out of date or both. Please feel free to correct me ( on here or by pm ) and I will alter or even delete my whole post .
I have no desire to upset anyone . In fact I will pm Chris Bowen so hopefully he can give me the most current information.

Tbh I have no idea why the water company is trying to force this on the club as it has two other car parks with direct access to the reservoir it could use,  so has no need to try and force this on the club and the use of words like elitist to describe the club seem unnecessarily inflammatory and simply incorrect.
Hopefully some common ground can be reached between the two parties .

I am in two minds over this . First off I have to say I like Northampton sailing club as I’ve been to a lot of nationals there in the past and the racing and the catering is always top notch. Plus their sailibility group does a terrific job.
But on the other hand it one of a number of club in the midlands that are semi professionally run which means it’s overheads are high for a club of its size so it needs the space to run large events to make enough money to survive. Which is probably why they don’t want to give up any land as club boats and the club house only take up about a third of the site.
It’s club racing has very low turnouts for a club of its size. Looking from the outside it looks like a place were good sailors leave their boat between opens and nationals because there are very few duties to do
Hopefully someone will post better background information and disprove my musings.
I know a poster who sails a Lightning 368 ( among other boats ) has recently joined the club as I’ve seen his boat in the boat park. Smile Hopefully he will give us some inside info.

Another club facing closure, not sure if some of the issues raised by the club aren't emotional?

Sadly this has been inevitable since the turn of the year . I cannot fathom the local councils thinking on this decision. But it’s happened , luckily most of the club members have found new homes at local clubs .

Sadly SASC closed yesterday. The local paper ran a headline saying "Stormy waters sink Sutton Sailing Club".  RIP SASC, 1959-2022.
