I've still got one of those flush hooks. The "Warrington flat plate" extremely safe and doesn't damage your gelcoat.
A little harder to get hooked and unhooked but also doesn't unhook by accident and you don't need to raise yourself up as high to hook in. Not using it at present as I'm not sure it will work with my T3, and got used to the conventional hook again. Two things killed the flat plate 1. Mr Waddington retired and then died ☹️☹️ 2. No big manufacturer picked it up because it didn't and couldn't be QR .....And a plague on safety rules invented by the ignorant which no one then dares not enforce in case they're sued. I blame those no win no fee lawyers / ambulance chasers. How many accidental deaths due to trap hook entrapment have there really been? Compulsory helmets next? |

On a scale of probability entrapment by hook always seems much less likely to me than rope wraps around limbs and even more confusing snags on buoyancy aids. The hook is an instinctive go to area to clear anything else is likely to be far more difficult. So yes Nick, a solution looking for a problem.
