Our history
With over 40 years of experience distributing fibre ropes across the UK, DSM Group remains headquartered in Mirfield, West Yorkshire. Early partnerships with leading European manufacturers established our reputation for high-quality ropes, many of which continue to this day, ensuring consistent product standards.
As a family business, DSM steadily expanded throughout the 1980s, continuously growing our product range. In the 1990s, founder David Saddington was joined by his sons, Nigel and Paul, who continue to run the company alongside our dedicated and experienced team. During this period, we also opened Covertec in Ipswich, producing bespoke canvas products.
In 2002, we launched the Kingfisher Yacht Ropes brand, which quickly became a market leader. Within just 10 years, Kingfisher became one of the most recognised rope brands in the UK leisure marine market. Over the last decade, the brand has expanded internationally, now partnering with over 300 stockists worldwide.
