Yamaha more prominent in Sydney - Fleet Marine Appointed

by Bob Carter on 12 Nov 2009
Yamaha - Fleet Marine Bob Carter
With 15 years of success in the marine industry operating a marine electrical and mechanical servicing business, Fleet Marine has taken a new direction to establish retail premises at d’Albora Marinas, The Spit, Mosman. And to make the new business even more appealing, Fleet Marine has been appointed as a fully authorised Yamaha Outboards dealer.

Anthony Daube, Director of Fleet Marine, is enthusiastic and confident about the new direction of his business. Operating from three separate locations on the waterfront in Sydney, Fleet Marine has a well established client base and a fine reputation.

The original Fleet Marine was established at Newport some 15 years ago. The Bobbin Head workshop has been operational for seven years, while Fleet Marine has been trading at The Spit, Mosman for four years.

'When we decided to expand at The Spit from a workshop operation to also have a retail shop, we approached Yamaha with a view to sell and service their outboards,' Anthony Daube said.

'We felt that we could do a great job for existing and prospective Yamaha customers in this area which was in need of a Yamaha dealer.'

At this location, Fleet Marine is well positioned to engage and support the larger powerboat market. There are a massive number of open powerboats in the 6m to 10m category that are candidates for re-powering in the short to medium term. Similarly, the bigger boaters are big users of inflatable tenders which also need small portable Yamaha 2-stroke or 4-stroke outboard engines.

'What may not be as obvious to many people is the big number of commercial operators on the water in the Middle Harbour area. We already service many of these customers through our marine electrical business; now we can also assist them with Yamaha re-powers.'

'We have a slipping facilities right alongside our workshop so we are able to do major engine repowers on the slip, while other work such as anti fouling and so on can be done at the same time.'

Anthony Daube is no stranger to the Yamaha brand, having run both Yamaha 2-stroke and Yamaha 4-stroke outboards on his company work boats.

'Over the years I have used other brands, but nothing comes close to Yamaha for durability and reliability, not to mention fuel economy.'

The new Fleet Marine retail showroom at The Spit has a representative range of Yamaha outboard engines on display, together with inflatable boats and marine electronics.

Yamaha outboards are available through an Australia-wide network of authorised Yamaha outboard dealers. All Yamaha 4-stroke outboards are supported with a full 4-year manufacturer’s warranty and all 2-stroke outboards are backed by a 3-year warranty – standard conditions apply.
