If match racing is your taste, then we have reports and images from the the Korea Match Cup - with contributions from both the New Zealand teams competing in the event, plus daily reports and images of the cut-throat racing in the Korea Match 36's designed by www.bakewell-white.com!Bakewell-White_Yacht_Design.
In Mooloolaba, the Winter series for the Etchells has concluded, two New Zealand crews competed. In this issue we have daily reports and images galleries from the Sail-World editorial team who were on site at the regatta - which attracted 54 entries - including many of the top sailors in Australia.
As you may have guessed the Volvo Ocean Race started Leg 8 on Sunday morning (NZT), with some strong winds to propel the seven strong fleet on the next 'sprint' leg of just 1250nm. At latest report, with 836nm left to sail, just 10nm covers the fleet. We will be updating regularly on www.sail-world.com and look forward to many great images being sent back from what many describe as a 'coastal race' - meaning that helicopter rides out to the race fleet, with some of the world's top photographers aboard are expected.
Rick Tomlinson caught the fleet off the coast of Ireland in the middle of a 38kt squall, which caught the fleet with their big gear on - and no option but to ride it out. And what a ride it was, as you can see from the two galleries of images in this issue.
When looking at these image galleries on Sail-World, don't forget to click on the 'Enlarge Image' feature that is available on some images - this will expand the image to fill your screen for around 20 secs - they are spectacular!
Don't forget - submissions close on Friday,12 June on the Woody Bay Mooring issue. If you feel strongly about this issue, or the encroachment of popular anchorages with moorings, legal or otherwise, then make sure that you lodge a submission by this Friday, 12 June with the Auckland Regional Council.
