The new 50 Foot Zytiron High performance luxury express cruiser from Hydrofoils Incorporated could be a major design break through, it if comes to pass, imagine a 100 passenger model doing 100 knots.

The designers Hydrofoils Inc. claim this will be the safest, fastest, and most advanced motor yacht on the water, BAR NONE.

They say the 50-foot, (15.2-meter) 5-passenger, 100 kt., twin, marine turbine powered, lightweight, boats are American Bureau of Yacht certified, vessels and it can be quickly reconfigured as a defense, commuter, freight, or ambulance vehicle at various capacities.

Draft is less than 1.5 ft fully loaded, running and less than 1.5 ft fully loaded, static (foils folded). The boat is operational in this folded mode and foils are normally retracted while approaching the dock or shore. Depth as indicated on the chart will pose no problems for these 'Shallow Water' boats.

The design is based upon existing and very successful hydrofoil technology, but the boat is in design stage and has not yet been put into production.

Hydrofoils Inc. say the new technology 50T will take eight months to produce and will need two months for sea trials. The finished, running 50-foot boat is approximately US1.3 million.

Larger versions would be available for commercial purposes up to 150 feet (46 meters), with capacity up to 100 passengers at 100 knots.

Because of their high speed and shallow water ability these craft would be ideal for use with private island retreats and resorts, they could certainly come into their own on Great Barrier Reef trips.
