Beneteau First 44.7 a winner in Boat of the Year
by Event media on 21 May 2005
The Beneteau First 44.7 was a winner in the Boat of the Year in the ‘Imported Sailing’ category at the 2005 AMIF Australian Marine Awards on Thursday night.
From its ‘First’ arrival in Australian waters in May 2004, the Beneteau First 44.7 has been raising eyebrows in many spheres of the nautical world since Groupe Beneteau and Bruce Farr yet again created a stylish and competitive boat with a lot of expectation.
Those expectations were realised in the 2004/05 sailing season, with the following results, no doubt helping to earn the Beneteau First its latest accolade:
Sail World Magazine – ‘Boat of the Year’
2nd IRC Open – Hamilton Island Race Week
1st IRC Cruising – Hamilton Island Race Week
1st IRC Open – MHYC Savills Regatta
1st IRC Open – CYCA Cabbage Tree Island Race
1st IRC Open – CYCA Lion Island Race
2nd IRC Division C – Rolex Sydney to Hobart 2004
1st IRC Open – Sailing South Week
1st IRC Open – Skandia Geelong Race Week
1st IRC Open – CYCA Newcastle Race
Brendan Hunt, Vicsail’s Managing Director and importer of Beneteau for Australia and New Zealand said of the award, ‘to win the imported boat of the year award is very exciting and is testament to Groupe Beneteau’s dedication to answering the needs of their clients.’
