Ullman Sails LBRW - More ways to win on the water, and ashore!

Fleet in action - 2016 Ullman Sails Long Beach Race Week Betsy Crowfoot
Ullman Sails Long Beach Race Week (LBRW) ups the ante, with more ways to win in 2016!

But as always, you’ve got to enter to win. Close of entries is 6PM Tuesday June 21 for racing June 24 through 26, in what is forecast to be a warm and breezy weekend.

In addition to a plethora of trophies for excellence on-the-water, LBRW now offers more ways to win without even donning your foulies.

Hashtag and win a bag: win a duffle bag in a new photo contest of memorable moments. Use #UllmanLBRW to post your Top Shot of the Day. In addition, title sponsor Ullman Sails has announced one lucky team will randomly receive a ‘Golden Ticket’ – bags and shirts for the entire team! See the “Long Beach Race Week” Facebook page or your skippers packet for details.

Champions on the water will also score a victory for their youth sailors. Ullman Sails will donate a set of sails to the Junior Sailing programs at the registered yacht clubs of PHRF Boat of the Week, and One Design Boat of the Week.

Bruce Golison won the latter title last year, and returns as defending champion aboard Midlife Crisis in the larger-than-ever J/70 fleet, while LBYC commodore Dave Hood will battle to protect his title in the Catalina 37 class. All told there are expected to be at least seven one-design fleets including Viper 640, Schock 35, J/70, J/80, J/105, J/109 and J/120, in addition to intense PHRF racing on both windward/leeward and random leg courses. Initial forecasts are for a hot and heated weekend, with temperatures into the 80s and idyllic 10 knot breezes.

Ullman Sails Long Beach Race Week had its origins in 1980 and is a perennial favourite of sailors up and down the coast, thanks to thrilling competition, warm hospitably, and parties that are both lively and fun. Ullman Sails LBRW is hosted by neighbouring Long Beach Yacht Club and Alamitos Bay Yacht Club.

For more information, and to register online on or before June 21, go to website. For contest details, visit Long Beach Race Week on Facebook, and follow online @lbraceweek #UllmanLBRW.
