Ibiza JoySail releases dates for 2024 edition

by Ibiza JoySail 7 Oct 2023 02:26 PDT 19-22 September 2024

The Ibiza JoySail Organising Committee, made up of STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza, has released the dates for the Ibiza JoySail superyacht regatta, which will be held from 19 to 22 September 2024.

Next year will be the fourth edition of Ibiza JoySail, a race that has grown exponentially since its launch in 2021, when just four boats took part, up to 2023, when there were thirteen competitors in total.

Since 2023, Ibiza JoySail has been an invitation-only event, due to the huge buzz created by the event. That's why the organisers decided to put a cap on the number of entrants, meaning that the race still has an air of exclusivity both at sea and on land, and thereby providing the participating boats and crews with the optimal conditions.

At the recently completed third edition of Ibiza JoySail, the special guest category was the J Class, while the event was also the scene for the final trial in the Kolher Cup, with Svea romping home as overall winner and newly proclaimed holder of the Kohler.

In addition to the J Class, the other divisions were Performance, won by the Swan 115 Moat, outright winner of all three editions and Palma-Ibiza record holder. In Performance Cruising, the winner was the Swan 80 Dark Horse, who along with Moat has raced in all three editions of Ibiza JoySail, while the World Cruising champion was the Dystra 111 Aurelius.

Meanwhile, the Corinthian Class in the three modes of Performance, Cruising and World Cruising gave some true added value to Ibiza JoySail. This race attracts owners keen to race but not so keen to modify their boat or take on extra crew or equipment. In this category, the champions were the SW 105 Kiboko Tres in Performance; the Y7 70 Shambho in Performance Cruising; and Aurelius in World Cruising.

Also interesting this year was the first-time participation of two Spanish superyachts, Kiboko Tres and the Custom 99 Alarife 100.

In short, 19 to 22 September 2024 are the key dates for the fourth edition of Ibiza JoySail, the unmissable end-of-season race for superyachts in the Med.
